"The Świętokrzyskie region metallurgy and other centres of ancient iron smelting in Polish territory" is a publication summarising the conference organised by the Świętokrzyskie Association of Industrial Heritage in the year 2000 and aiming at defining the status of research on the ancient iron metallurgy on the Polish land.
Collective work edited by dr Szymon Orzechowski contains summaries and articles connected with the results of archeological and experimental research on iron metallurgy in the Holy Cross Mountains, in Silesia, Mazovia and other smaller, newly discovered centers of ancient metallurgy in the Lublin region and along the Nida river. It is worth noting that for the first time all researchers of ancient metallurgy in Poland gathered in one place and could exchange experiences and summarise the issues which resulted in this publication. For the organisers of the conference being the publisher at the same time it was also very important to work on this summary in the Holy Cross Mountains, a cradle of the research on the ancient iron metallurgy. 300 copies of the book were published, which was immediately sold out. It was published thanks to the support of the Pedagogical University in Kielce, Academy of Mining and Metallurgy in Cracow, Museum of Ancient Metallurgy of the Mazovia Region in Pruszków, Municipal Governement of the Świętokrzyskie Province, Preservator of Monuments of the Świętokrzyskie Province and with a great help and under the auspices of the Voivod of the Świętokrzyskie Province.



The publication "In the Hefajsto forge of the Świętokrzyski region" presents the issue of ancient iron metallurgy in the Holy Cross Mountains and other production areas connected with presentations of specialists co-operating with the association during organisation of archeological events such as "Dymarki Świętokrzyskie" (Pit furnaces of the Świętokrzyskie Region) or "Iron Roots".
The promotional character of the book guarantees that the reader will familiarise himself with the basic points of the programme "Man and Iron in the first years of our age" enabling "touch" of the reality reconstructed by archeologists, metallurgists and historians during presentations organised in Nowa Słupia and Starachowice. Texts are preapred by the members of the association and people co-operating at programme creation.
The book was published in 2003 in 3000 copies. The price is 10 zl. There is a possibility of mail order in the association's office, in the Nature and Technology Museum in Starachowice and in the Museum of Ancient Metallurgy in Nowa Słupia. The publication was issued owing to the support and under the auspices of the Voivod of the Świętokrzyskie Province.
