The Świętokrzyskie Association of Industrial Heritage established in 1999 in Kielce made spreading the knowledge about the intelectual heritage of the region one of its scientific and educational activities. In the years 2000-2003 the association published three books on issues connected with the industrial heritage of the świętokrzyskie region and the Polish land as well as a number of brochures and posters advertising the enterprises constituting the core of the association's activities, such as the "Dymarki Świętokrzyskie" (Świętokrzyskie Pit furnace) and "Iron Roots" archeological festivals. In 2002 a multimedia material entitled "Pit furnaces - Iron Roots of the Holy Cross Mountains" was created as a supplementary free material to the Gazeta Wyborcza daily newspaper.
Prof. dr hab. Zbigniew Wójcik:
The book "Issues connected with geology and mining in the Gazeta Kielecka newspaper in the years 1871 - 1900. Selected articles." prepared by prof. Zbigniew J. Wójcik reminds about the 19th century Gazeta Kielecka as a valuable source of history concerning the mining and metallurgical industry in the southern part of the Polish Kingdom, although it remains so undervalued by the press historians. The book presents a number of articles, mainly written by teachers of schools in Kielce and engineers of the Eastern Mining District. Kielce, which was a gubernatorial town at the time, constituted a significant center known nationwide and inspiring Polish society to develope their own industry and thus to limit the German expansion of the neighbouring Prussians on the Polish territory. The book was published in 150 copies within the edition which was completely sold out. It was published owing to the support of the Kielce City Council.
